hi hi guys!!!
I wanted to write about this for a long time. this is one of my favorite comics, this and Girl Genius of course. And cool thing about Nodwick? My Uncle Jerry lives out by where he is, so i got to meet him twice!! Once here at a Ren faire and once in K C. He’s really cool.
Here is how the website describes it. Then i’ll try, okay?
The story of Nodwick is a classic tale of boy meets party, boy hires on with party, boy becomes injured, crushed, punctured, smelted, flattened, stapled, eaten, and occasionally used to carry stuff.
A young henchman seeks his fortune and unwittingly contracts himself to a trio of adventurers who constantly rewrite the book on legendary exploits (mostly under chapters beginning with the word “don’t”). They have defeated evil tyrants, slain rampaging monsters, looted ruined cities (often doing the ruining themselves, saving time), and generally brought adventure to those who would otherwise live peaceful lives. No job is too small for these heroes, primarily because they are often broke, bored, or both. Unfortunately, the outcome of their adventures is rarely positive for anyone involved, and many are the hamlets that would sooner face an outbreak of intestinal warts than lodge these ‘heroes” for a fortnight.
They are normally heroes-for-hire, but on occasion they take to an adventure that has personal meaning. Artax might be following up rumors of an ancient spell that grants complete control over housecats; Piffany could be on a quest to stop a holy war from breaking out over a spring of carbonated holy water; Yeagar might be seeking the fabled “Tavern of Infinite Happy Hour”; Nodwick … well, Nodwick is probably seeking a loophole in his union contract that would let him seek out new and better employers, but that’s not important.
Nodwick is the story of a hireling this group of three of adventures take with them all over. Be it dungeons, slaying dragons, fighting evil mages or just about anything at all. The two male adventurers are always getting him killed or hurt. And he has the worst luck as well. But luckly there is a female cleric along with magic duck tape to fix him up. 
The other members are Yeager the fighter. he has pretty much a one track mind. With only three things in it, get gold, buy beer, repeat. HEHE. He’s really good at fighting, after he sends in Nodwick to “check things out”. He is the main one that gets Nodwick killed, but he’s not a bad person at all. He’s none too bright, and settles things by fighting for the most part.
Next is Artax the mage, artax is a very smart wizard. He is always looking for new spells and trying out new potions, He and Yeager are always coming up with new schemes to get gold, or scrolls. Most of which involve Nodwick getting beheaded, torn up, burned up, or all of the above. Arttax isn’t as bad as Yeager in this, but he can be talked into thing pretty easy.
The last of the party members is Piffany the cleric. she is a lawful good cleric, who loves all things cute and cuddly. puppies, unicorns, anything like that. she is the party’s healer and will go on adventures with them to fight the “evil, yucky bad guys”. but there are sometimes she will give the monsters nice things and help them become less evil. in one comic, they go back to a place they went though before; and a couple orcs asked her, ” do you have more of those yummy cookies????” HEHEHE now that’s funny. she is always helping people and doing good things. she is very innocent, so the guys always try to hide things from her. so she doesnt get upset. she is very fond of Nodwick, which is important later in the storyline. ooooooo, spoiler? im not saying.
over all this is one of teh best comics out there. it has sooooo much in each story. the jokes are very funny, and so much of it is geeky. like the one i am reading right now, which i can’t say too much about. too easy to spoil it. i’ll just say one line from it, “there can be only me!” yep, they went there hehe.
