Ok, here is my second catchup episode, where we discuss gifts, books, games and activities for the holidays and those cold winter days coming up! Darcy wanted some book recommendations, so here are the links I promised:

Anne McCaffrey’s Dragonriders of Pern Series- I recommend starting with the Harper Hall Trilogy – Menolly is a great intro character.

Marion Zimmer Bradley’s Darkover Series – I recommend the Darkover Chronology order – also a good list here

Lois McMaster Bujold’s Vorkosigan Series – I would say they are safe for younger teens until reaching the book where Mark is introduced – Brothers in Arms and Mirror Dance, and after those they are pretty safe again. There is a good amount of R-rated torture in the two aforementioned books, so I would skip those for now. The rest of the series has rough moments, but they work in the story setting, in my opinion.
