Hi guys,

Got me a cold so had to stay inside all weekend, but that’s okay. I got a ton of books to read and we are only on number four of my dvd reviews. Next up we got a golf movie!!!! Weeeee. Hehe

It’s actually a good one, you’ll see – The legend of Bagger Vance

From the dvd box: ” From the academy award winning director Robert Redford comes a film that celebrates the power and potential of the human spirit. Will Smith, (yeah I was surprised too.) Matt Damon and Charlize Theron star in this highly acclaimed tale of a local hero with a promising future, whose hopes are shattered on the battlefields of war. The disillusioned young man turns his back on the world until a fateful visit from a mysterious stranger turns his life around. ”

Junuh, played by matt damon; is a very talented golfer in Georgia. He won all kinds of awards and was one of the best golfers they had until he got drafted and had to go to war. While over there he saw a lot of really bad things, and something just snapped inside him. And he just drops out of everyone’s lives back home, including his sweetheart’s. (charlize theron). He doesn’t return any of her letters, and everyone thinks he died.

Meanwhile, back home. His sweetheart inherits her father’s golf course, and although she is a strong southern woman, she is having a hard time making a go of it. She is told that she could lose everything her father built up, so she comes up with a plan. She will get the best golfers around to come together in a winner take all match. It sounds good but there is no one to represent Georgia.

Junuh finally comes back home after years at war. She sees him arrive and reads him the riot act right in the middle of the street! He leaves and spends his days getting drunk and playing cards with the black people from town. Everyone pretty much forgets him, except one young boy who remembers his glory days as a golfer.

Well the golf game is almost ready, with still no one to represent Georgia and the elders are all breathing down her neck to find someone. That’s when the young boy speaks up and says, “how about Junuh?” They all laugh, but he swears he can get him cleaned up and get him to play. The girl is desperate too, so she even goes out there to get him. After a couple funny a while he agrees. But it has been so long that he is way bad at it. Then one night out of the darkness, (in a very funny scene.) Bagger Vance walks up and agrees to help him for five dollars.

Who is bagger? Can he really help a washed up golfer? Will he good enough to beat three of the best players in golf back in those days? Will the girl save her father’s golf course? What’s big Will doing in a golf movie??????

Hehe.

Okay at first when dad said let’s watch a golf movie I was like, ewwwwww. Then he started naming the people in it, and I was like meh. Might be okay I guess. Guys. This movie rocked! It was funny, it was romantic, it got you interested and rotting for people, and yeah it was golf, but it got exciting too.

Bagger himself is kind of a mystery. He might have just been some black dude, but the movie kind of makes you think he was a angel or maybe even god coming down to lead a hand. Now it never gets religious or says that. It just leaves you to guess.

The two other golfers are interesting too. Both are way good, but both are so different from each other in play. One plays for the money, and pretty much just realizes on strength. The other I really liked, he was a older golfer who just loves to play. He is nicer to Junuh, but he also wants to win the big game.

There wasn’t a dull part in this movie, yeah I know it’s golf. But seriously. The funny parts are very funny, and the action it really something.

This is a okay film for everyone. There is one part where the girl tries to seduce Junuh, but it was funny and wasn’t like bad or anything.

So if you want to see will smith like you never seen him before, go rent or buy this one. Its way good!
