In this episode, I review the classic PBS series “Nova,” and discuss some of my favorite episodes, which leads me to talk about GalaxyZoo, the Astronomy Cast, the 365 Days of Astronomy and Pluto. Which then leads me to discuss the book “The Pluto Files” by Neil DeGrasse Tyson, and the Nova episode based on it. Also, you can follow Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Pamela Gay and Mike Brown on Twitter!

In this episode, we review a card-based game Amanda got for her birthday, Incan Gold. I recommend it for kids – it is quick, easy, and you can work on their simple math skills without them complaining much! Next, I review the Science Channel show Meteorite Men, which I recommend for hardcore rock hounds and meteorite buffs. Finally, Wyatt calls in with a discussion of motion control platforms in gaming, a commentary on Army Men, and a comment on Bioshock.

Hey guys,
Back when I told Dad I wanted to be a movie reviewer, he said I needed to sit down and watch the classics. See how good films were mad back in the day and how a lot of old movies influence a lot of the newer ones we have today. (I am not talking remakes.)
Well it’s two years later and I am just now getting around to watching the ones on his list, they do sound interesting; but i just couldn’t see me sitting down for two hours watching them back then. Now that I am older, I am starting to get into them more and more.
So this time around, I am going to do a review for our parents. Chances are they already seen this movie thousands of times, but maybe with me just discovering them for the very first time; maybe I can bring something new to it. Who knows, just maybe.
From the back of the cover – “The time: World War II. The place: Morocco. The film: Casablanca, perhaps most legendary achievement in cinematic history. Suspenseful, gloriously romantic and filled with unforgettable dialog, this winner of three Oscars continues top critics lists of all time favorite films, for as Rodger Ebert (My favorite reviewer.
) so aptly put it; “Casablanca is THE movie.” Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman light up the screen as Rick and Ilsa, former lovers briefly reunited in the chaos of war. He is a world weary nightclub owner who “sticks his neck out for nobody.” and she is a beautiful woman fleeing the Nazis with her resistance hero husband. Only Rick can the pair escape..and only if Ilsa can reawaken the idealism she killed in him when she left him long ago. Bogie and Bergman incomparable as the star crossed lovers who will always have Paris.”

Anna got her king
Hey Guys,
Well since my last review on the big green guy was for the boys more than us girls, I thought I would find something we would like more. So I got Jenny’s help and we came up with a breath taking, beautiful movie this time. So come with me to the far east, and let meet a widowed teacher who is strong willed, and a king who is just as strong willed. When these two meet, you just know something has to give.
From the cover- “Academy Award winner Jodie Foster and international action star Chow Yun Fat bring to life the epic true story of a woman who challenged a the heart of a king and inspired the destiny of a nation. English school teacher Anna Leonowens has traveled to Siam to educate the fifty eight children of King Mongkut. If she has any preconceived notions about the East, the King has the same notions about the west. But amid the danger of growing political unrest, their respect for each other slowly turns into something else.”

This week, we had a ton of voicemails that I wanted to let you all listen to! First up, we have Tim, reminding us of Darcy’s wonderful reviews here on the blog! Next, we have a few from Gary, who is catching up listening. He has great ideas and comments about the IKEA store, ear piercing, and science education in elementary school. He also has some comments and questions about Legos and how kids in general play with them! Don calls in with a great source for hypoallergenic earrings and parts, for us sensitive-skinned folks and crafters (like me!). Then Wyatt calls in about Jonathan Coulton on the Rock Band Network, vintage gaming and collecting, news about games on the Mac and an XBox Live update.

Hey guys,
Okay got a question. Think you seen every Godzilla movie ever made? Yeah I did too until this one. It’s actually not as bad as it sounds……really. Have I ever lead you peeps wrong?
“A scientist combines the cells of a rose with those of Godzilla to create a biological creature more horrifying than any seen before. The two do battle after a destructive tour of Japan by Godzilla. A newly released version includes many new fight scenes that were cut out of the theatrical version.
