In this episode, I review the classic PBS series “Nova,” and discuss some of my favorite episodes, which leads me to talk about GalaxyZoo, the Astronomy Cast, the 365 Days of Astronomy and Pluto. Which then leads me to discuss the book “The Pluto Files” by Neil DeGrasse Tyson, and the Nova episode based on it. Also, you can follow Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Pamela Gay and Mike Brown on Twitter!

The debate over Pluto’s planet status is still very much ongoing, and it is only fair that your kids be exposed to BOTH sides of the issue. I am a writer, amateur astronomer and astronomy graduate student who is an expert on Pluto and has been advocating in favor of Pluto’s planet status for over three-and-a-half years. You can find my Pluto blog at http://laurele.livejournal.com . Please follow me on Twitter; my name is plutosavior.

Also, a great book on the pro-Pluto as a planet side is “The Case for Pluto” by Alan Boyle. This book even has a section at the end about how to talk to kids about planets. I highly recommend it for both kids and adults.
