This episode, I try to tackle the complicated subject of how to talk to our kids about the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Doug from Alaska calls in at the beginning – I thought his voicemail spoke for itself. This subject is pretty hard, so I mostly discuss what we can do to help our kids learn how not to make the same mistakes in the future.  Please let me know your comments and suggestions!

Please email me with your own comments at howtogrowyourgeek-at-gmail-dot-com, or call my voicemail number at 206-202-7309   and leave your thoughts. Great show!! I think what we can do is a lot like you said too. Like bottled water, we reuse our bottles and those metal ones you can get at Walgreens are great! Put some water in them and put it up in the freezer, then take it out and add a little water. You got ice water all day!

And as for the oil thing, give to Red Cross like you said, but the most important thing is don’t let the first thing out your moth be, ” They really need to do..” Let them do what they can, they been at it longer than us. Instead let your thoughts be, “What I can do is…”

Great point, Darcy! We all need to do that! And folks, don’t be afraid to listen to our kids on this one. They have valid points, too – just like Darcy did! Thanks for speaking up!
