Vacation Week!

We are heading to my parent’s farm for a few days, so there won’t be an episode this week. Hopefully I can record some great geeky kid stuff while we are gone, maybe even some classic car-ride discussion.

Have a great week, and we will talk to you all soon!

Check out our first book review!

I will be adding content and rearranging the site soon to make it easier to use this site to find reviews of books, movies, games and tv shows arranged by recommended age. As I get better using WordPress, I will make this site more useable, and hope to provide lots of useful recommendations for geek families.

Thanks to the lovely and talented young Darcy Low, for sending in our first book review. She is a great judge of YA fantasy, and will be sending us a few more reviews soon! Please send in reviews of any material you think is great for younger geeks, and I will be glad to add it to our lists.

We can has Comments?!?

Be sure to check out the show #8 link to leave your comments - we have one already! I would love to see your recommendations for great geeky movies to watch with your kids this summer!

The more off-the-beaten-path, the better! Let me know what you love to watch!

Thanks so much to the great guys over at “What the Cast,” for talking about HTGYG for over 5 minutes on their May 23 episode! I am running a little late this weekend, with the holiday and working out my schedule with the kids at home, so take this time to visit them. I would call them PG-rated, so you may not want to share with your little geeks, but it is awesome for the bigger geeks!

Happy Memorial Day

Hi everyone! I hope you are having a great and relaxing holiday weekend. Please take a minute to remember those who died to protect our freedoms in the USA.

I always think of my Granddaddy, who fought in WWII. He didn’t die in the war, but he died on Memorial Day weekend 9 years ago. I think of him landing on the beach at Normandy on D Day, and am grateful he survived and came home, thanks to the other soldiers who died to protect him. That is what Memorial Day means to me.

This week’s show will be a little late, since my wonderful daughter is home with a virus today. Poor thing, she has had it all weekend. So today I am on SuperMom duty, to try to make it all better.

Maybe I will have some help this afternoon, if she feels up to it. Talk to you all soon!

Happy Mother’s Day!

I hope everyone is having a great Mother’s Day!

I read this great column on Slice of SciFi celebrating the geeky mom, and thought I would pass it along to you! Enjoy!

HTGYG has a Forum now!

We now have a forum at the Farpoint Forums. Come and discuss anything about parenting or geeking, and check out the other Farpoint shows as well!

A little delay!

Hi everyone! The next podcast will be a little late, due to some dental work I had today. I should be feeling better tomorrow, and will be able to talk more easily. Thanks for listening!

Birthday Party!

My daughter turns 8 today, and she had 5 friends over to spend the night last night. Whew - I can’t believe that we survived! They are all gone now to their various soccer matches, tennis matches, yard sales and other birthday parties, and we are left with a very cranky girl and a messy house!

Hopefully the show won’t be late this week - but it will be the last show with the crappy microphone. I just ordered some better sound equipment, so show #4 should be vastly better-sounding than these. If you have subscribed, THANKS for giving me a chance and hanging in there!

Wednesday of this week, I will be pitching in on a special all-girl episode of the Babylon Podcast reviewing the fourth season premier episode “The Hour of the Wolf.” It will be my first Skype roundtable, and I am thrilled to be participating!

Time to clean up !
