It’s that time of year again – science fair projects, stomach viruses, field trips and chaos! Apologies for the sound being off, but I wanted to get this out to you! This episode, I talk about our adventures finishing up the school assignments before the holiday break and the fun the kids had singing at various locations. I also talk about what I think is the biggest space news story of the year – Europa’s showers of water.

As promised, here’s the pic and link of the Mythbusters Science Fair Book – here’s #2, but we have both editions.

I’m thrilled to tell all of you about this year’s DragonCon events and activities. Amanda and I had a great time! I start off talking about the Atlanta Star Party in honor of Cosmoquest.org, run by our friends Pamela Gay and Nicole Gugliucci. If you’re interested in supporting science and STEM education, please donate here! Then we move on to discussing various panels and events we attended, including seeing Jim Butcher at the live Sword & Laser Podcast, and the stars of Warehouse 13! There’s so much, I’ll have to continue in the next episode!

Don’t forget that you can donate to Disaster Relief efforts going on in Colorado and elsewhere by visiting RedCross.org!

HTGYG Show #156: Summer Catchup – Exercise, Weight Loss, End of Summer Book List!

IMG_0238

IMG_0238Hi everyone! It’s been a while since we’ve had a show, but we’ve had a busy summer! In this episode, I talk about our efforts to exercise more, eat less, and relax a lot after the craziness of swim team in June.

RapidEye calls in to talk about his family’s practice of running for exercise.

We also had a family vacation that was very relaxing and fun, with some time away from the Internet.

Finally, I’ve got a list of books that will be having movie versions out soon for your kids and teens to catch up on – Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters, Divergent, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and The Mortal Instruments. We’ll have more on them later this fall.

HTGYG Show #154: Special Episode: Grieving and Loss – Remembering my Grandmother

This episode is a special remembrance of my grandmother, Era Mae Lett, and details how I’m feeling about her loss, how I’m handling it with my kids, and just my difficulties with having to handle loss and grief. Thank you to anyone who takes the time to listen – it was very cathartic for me to discuss my emotions.
